Hello Parents and Students, the new school year begins August 19th. Your charter teacher will contact you during the week prior to the start of school. If you are interested in enrolling, please contact us. You can call Principal Mindy Klang at (559) 642-1422 ext 15 to setup an appointment. We will be back in the office during the start of August. Mountain Area Track and Field Meet, May 3rd - Call if interested in participating.

Do you like to run? The Mountain Area Track and Field Meet will be held Friday, May 3rd. If you are interested in participating please call ext. 17 by Wednesday, April 24th. Participants need to be in the 3rd-8th grade.

Skiing canceled for March 18th

With the warm weather expected this week and reports from last weeks snow day we decided to cancel our last ski day this Monday the 18th. Concerns over skier safety was the main reason for us to cancel. If you paid or had a balance left in your account, we will try and get checks out to you within the next two weeks.

We hope those of you that took advantage of this program enjoyed it. Thank you to all of the instructors for your time and hard work. It was amazing to see students progress so quickly. We could not do it without your help.

Head Lice warning at Oakhurst Campus.

We have received reports of children with head lice from two separate Mountain Home School families. In both cases, the families think the head lice came from some other place, not Mountain Home School. We are sending you this message to ask that you check your children for head lice and to remind you that students are not allowed to attend school if they have head lice. Please do not bring your child to any MHS or GHS class if he or she has head lice. Please check your mailbox here at school for information on how to check for and treat head lice.

Talent Show and Presentation Night will be postponed to Monday May 13th.

Due to the lack of interest, the Talent Show and Presentation Night will be postponed to Monday May 13th. We understand that the ski season as well as all the teaching going on at home, has made it difficult to prepare and commit to the March 5th date we had previously scheduled. Pushing it back to May 13th will hopefully get you all inspired to participate in this truly wonderful event.

So, now that you have more time, don't forget to sign up at school or call your charter teacher and tell them to sign you up.

Book Club for 7th and 8th and Flat Stanley Class Changes.

There are a few scheduling changes to classes this coming week!

Sylvia & Kim's Variety Class:
     Due to the small class sizes, we are combining the current 2nd and 3rd grade Variety classes for the rest of the year.  The new combined class will start this Thursday, January 24th.  The class will run from 1:00-2:30.

Kathi's Book Club for 7th/8th:
      Book Club will be postponed this week due to the fact that I will be out of town.  Rather than meeting on Thursday, January 24, we will meet a week later on Thursday, January 31st at 2:30 to 3:34.  We will be discussing the book, Artemis Fowl on that day.

Kathi's Flat Stanley Class:
      Our 2nd Flat Stanley class meeting will be changed from Wednesday, January 23rd to Wednesday, January 30th from 10:30 until 12:00.  This change is necessary because I will be out of town on the 23rd.  We are meeting on the 30th to briefly share an update of ourFlat doll experiences.  We will locate their travels on the map and enjoy another Stanley book adventure and project.

Changes to Variety Class 2013

Changes to Variety Class 2013

Due to the small class sizes, we are combining the current 2^nd and 3^rd grade Variety Classes for the remainder of the year.  The new combined class will be starting this Thursday, January 24^th.  The class will run from 1:00-2:30.

The class days remain the same and are the following:

January 24^th and 31^st.

February 7^th and 28^th. (No class on 2/14 and 2/21)

March 7^th, 14^th, and 21^st.  (No class on 3/28 and 4/4)

April 11^th will be an optional STAR test prep class.

Ski payments due not later then January 8th (Tuesday)

Just a reminder that ski payments of $16 per participant are due no later then this Tuesday Jan. 8th. Don't forget to fill out the new ski rental form either, it will make it much quicker our first day. Contact Eric Hagen with further questions.

Send a condolence card to Sandy Hook Elementary School.

Attention Parents, The school staff is sending a condolence card to Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut.  We wanted to send words of comfort, sharing our thoughts and prayers to the residents of the community coping with their tremendous loss.  If you'd be interested in writing your own condolence card, you can bring it by Mountain Home this Thursday, December 20th.  We will collect all cards and mail them in one envelope.

Don't forget Furballs & Friends this Wednesday, December 19th! We will meet out front of the Oakhurst Living Center at 1:50. You are welcome to bring homemade cards and goodies. Festive attire (for you and your furball) is encouraged!
